Do you jump on #tiktok or one of the many social media outlets as soon as you get out of bed? Or maybe catching up on news is your morning routine .. I was that guy until I realized how damaging my morning routine actually was.
When I wake up in the morning, my mental cup is empty and ready to be filled up for the day and what I consume in the morning fill up 80% of the cup – within the first 30 mins. That left very little for the rest of the day.
- Low motivation for the day
- You have compared the best of others to the worst of yourself – setting up an expectation that is harmful
- Mentally, you are now in a ‘catchup mode’ vs. inspired mode
- The urge to keep checking social media stays with you the whole day
All negative side effects and if sustained over a long period of time, your mornings become less effective more dreadful.
Pay attention to what you consume or choose NOT to consume within the first 30mins or 1hr of your day!
